SAINT JOSEPH’S EAST GEORGIA JOINS COMMUNITY HEALTH FAIR
GREENSBORO, GA (March 16, 2009) – Saint Joseph’s East Georgia joined with Greensboro Elementary School, Green County Health Department and Tender Care Clinic™ for the 1st Annual community Health and Safety Fair on Saturday, March 14, 2009.
“We were very excited to participate in this community event, especially because it was the first time it’s been done in Greensboro and it included programs for adults, children and families,” said Mike Huff, president of Saint Joseph’s East Georgia. “Our staff made several presentations and thoroughly enjoyed the community interaction.”
The fair, held from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at Greensboro Elementary School included presentations for adults on diabetes, smoking cessation, asthma, and heart health. Children’s activities included bike safety, kite flying, a giant slide, bouncers and Band-Aid the Clown.
“Even with the disappointing weather, we had many community members ask for information,” says Bunny Higdon, RN at Saint Joseph’s East Georgia. “We’re looking forward to participating again next year or when we have the opportunity.”
A community philanthropy campaign is underway to raise $15 million to provide furnishings, equipment, and fund indigent care and clinical research programs for a new, state-of-the-art hospital that Saint Joseph’s Atlanta plans to build in the Lake Oconee area. Campaign volunteers are working in partnership with Saint Joseph’s to support the new hospital, which will offer the latest diagnostic, surgical and outpatient services. Without everyone’s participation, it will not be financially feasible for Saint Joseph’s, a non-profit hospital, to go forward with this much needed project. Please help make this dream a reality for our communities. Donations are tax-deductible and pledges may be made over five years. To make a pledge, or if you have any questions, please call Saint Joseph’s Mercy Foundation at 706-999-9920.
