SAINT JOSEPH'S NAMES REGIONAL HOSPITAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Two Community Councils Created
ATLANTA - (September 2, 2008) - Saint Joseph's Hospital moved another step closer to establishing a regional hospital in Greene County with the creation of a Board of Directors for Saint Joseph's East Georgia. In addition, two community councils have been created with established goals and objectives.
"Saint Joseph's is committed to the Lake Oconee and east Georgia communities and it is important to move forward with creating a board of directors for the new regional health-care facility, and to establish councils which will help us develop strong, long-lasting relationships," says Sr. Jane Gerety, RSM, executive board officer for Saint Joseph's Health System and chair of the new Saint Joseph's east Georgia board.
New members of the 2008 Saint Joseph's East Georgia Board of Directors include:
David Cowles - currently serving as Chief Operating Officer, Banksouth. Cowles previously was affiliated with Wealth Management for AMSouth Bank in Tennessee where he led the private banking, trust and investment divisions. He has also served on the board of Green County Habitat and is the current chairman of the board of the Green County Chamber of Commerce and a member of the Reynolds Landing Board of Governors. Cowles is a Ruling Elder in the Presbyterian Church.
Janice M. Gallimore - Ms. Gallimore has extensive experience in Medicare and Managed Care. She has led companies through start-up, survival, turnaround and growth. Gallimore currently serves as chairman of the Greene County Board of Education and is a gubernatorial appointee to the Board of Early Care and Learning. She is also a 2006 scholar of the Coverdell Leadership Institute.
Joseph R. Gorman - retired as president and CEO of SP Newsprint Company after 28 years of executive leadership with the company. A long time resident of Georgia, Gorman is a certified public accountant and participates in many civic activities in the area. Gorman has been appointed vice-chair of the board of Saint Joseph's East Georgia.
Jody Haas - retired from IBM after 33 years following development and deployment of technology-based business solutions for large and small companies in distribution, retail, media and education industries. Ms. Haas has traveled extensively throughout the Americas, Asia and Europe managing IBM's worldwide Software Division Technical Sales team.
John Hoffner - formerly an EVP/CFO of a publically-held company, Mr. Hoffner has extensive experience in accounting, finance, treasury, MIS, human resources, risk management, legal, investor relations, distribution, strategic planning and real estate development. Mr. Hoffner currently serves on the board of AFC Enterprises, parent company of Popeye's restaurants, and is on the Executive Committee of the Advisory Board for the business school at Georgia College and State University.
Fred Hunter - Hunter, owner of Hunter's Drug Store in Greensboro, is a former member of the Minnie G. Boswell Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees and is related to the Boswell's. He is a long-time Greensboro business owner, resident and supporter of the hospital.
Larry Kurlander - an attorney, served as the elected district attorney in Rochester, New York and later as New York State's first director of criminal justice. Kurlander has also been a senior executive at American Express, Nabisco International, Newmont Mining Corporation and Central Asia Partners. He served on numerous advisory councils including Harvard University's Kennedy School of Government, Institute of State and Local Government and The American Councils for International Education.
Other board members include Sr. Jane Gerety, RSM, executive board officer, Saint Joseph's Health System; Mike Huff, (ex-officio) president, Saint Joseph's East Georgia; and Kirk Wilson, (ex-officio) president & CEO, Saint Joseph's Health System.
Two community councils also were created:
Saint Joseph's East Georgia Community Leadership Council which is committed to understanding the needs of the Lake Oconee community and region. Members will review strategies designed to improve the health of the community and advocate for initiatives which enable the hospital and its partners to better serve the community.
Saint Joseph's East Georgia Development Council committed to raising the capital and endowments for the new regional hospital. Goals include an initial capital campaign of $15 million: $10 million for furnishings and equipment for the new hospital and $5 million in endowment for programs and indigent care.
